Acupuncture

Contemporary Medical Acupuncture

This method involves placing acuptunture needles in specific locations, sometimes accompanied by gentle electrical stimulation - a painless process comparable to a highly focused TENS machine sensation.

To tailor treatment to your unique needs, our practitioners conduct specific muscle testing to identify weak areas or pain sources. Using this information, we pinpoint precise sites for needle insertion, optimizing muscle stimulation, and addressing affected nerves and the nervous system after an injury.

This holistic treatment considers the body's overall function, aiming for comprehensive recovery.

Modalities

Therapeutic Ultrasound, TENS, IFC, NMES, Ice Therapy, Moist Heat

Therapeutic Ultrasound: commonly used for acute pain and swelling management. A pain free modality lasting a few minutes.

Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation (TENS) & Interferential Current (IFC):  used to try to dampen the pain signals by using a low level electrical current, which feels like a gentle vibration.

Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES): uses an electrical frequency to help activate atrophied muscles post-injury to encourance them to elicit a stronger signal to get the muscle firing stronger.

Ice Therapy: Partnered with the Recov Sleeve, a circumferential ice pack that cools injured joints while offering compression.

Moist Heat: Involing our clay based hot packs being stored in a tub or very hot water. Works well for sore muscles and jonts as it penetrates deeper than traditional ice packs.

Shockwave Therapy

Based on experience and current evidences, extracorporeal shockwave therapy treatment is an effective modality in relieving pain intensity and improving functionality and quality of life in various tendinopathies such as plantar fasciitis, elbow tendinopathy, achilles tendinopathy, and rotator cuff tendinopathy.

To add more context to this, using shockwave as an adjunct to exercises to improve function, improves patient outcomes and rehabilitation.
